Fruit-picking expert shares his tips

Video
Do you know how to pick a sweet and juicy fruit? Today’s fruit-picking expert is not a housewife, but a 50-year-old man. Steven Chu, the president of the California Tree Fruit Agreement, has studied the various fruits for over 20 years. With all these professional knowledge, he even knows how to pick the right imported fruits.

The fruit vendor is selling imported fruits. They all look mouth-watering, but this expert says don’t get fooled by their looks.

It’s a quite an odd scene seeing a man dressed in a formal suit shopping in the market. But Steven Chu’s fruit-selecting skills are even more professional than full-time housewives.

“The bright color shows that the apple is fresh. You can also tell from the sound of it.”

These ugly-looking fruits may not be as tasty as many buyers may think they would be.

“The stalk of a fruit are soft and that means the fruit is ripen enough to its sweetness.”

And these strange-looking fruits are said to be newly-imported.

“The red color shows that this one was exposed longer under the sunshine.”

But Chu already knows all about it.

“I learned all of the knowledge from the materials the exporters provide, and from my point of view as a customer.”

Over the past 20 years, he has often traveled to different countries and interacted with local farmers to learn his knowledge of fruits, and that’s how he has become to be called the “Fruit Expert”. He can answer all questions about fruits.

“Everyone has to eat at least five kinds of vegetables and fruits everyday.”
